M RUTTY is distributing a range of high power-density brush DC motors from Portescap.
The Athlonix range is available in 12, 16 and 22mm frame sizes and weights between 15 and 53g.
The company says the units feature an energy-efficient coreless design with a self-supporting coil and a magnetic circuit. The coil powers the motor and maximises both the magnetic flux of the circuit and the turn-density.
According to the distributor, this design leads to a low motor regulation factor and energy-efficiency of around 90%. Having a low motor regulation factor will result in reduced heat loss and therefore higher power-densities. This also reduces its overall ownership costs.
The motor has a power rating of nine Watts and a maximum continuous torque up to 16.5mNm.
The company says the devices are suitable for automated electronic assembly, pick-and-place and robotic applications.
