HEXAGON Metrology has released the Leitz PMM-G gantry coordinate measuring machines (CMM) series for inspecting large components and gears.
The Leitz PMM-G gantry CMM series is suited for inspecting gear segments, gear racks, and geared shafts of up to 5000mm in diameter.
According to Hexagon Metrology, unlike other gear inspection products, the Leitz PMM-G gantry coordinate measuring machines do not require rotary tables, making part loading and unloading much easier.
The machines allow a maximum part weight of 15t, catering for the extremely large gears used in the windpower industries.
The PMM-G system can be used not just for inspecting gears, but functions as a coordinate measuring machine that can be used to inspect many other kinds of large machined assemblies, such as gear boxes and engine blocks.
